The Secret of The Old Clock is the first in the Nancy Drew Mysteries, written by Carolyn Keene.

In this book Nancy investigates and solves her first case. Where she must find a will written by Josiah Crowley.

      Nancy sets out

to find and old clock which is where she will find a clue to the written document.

In the Secret of the Old Clock, Nancy must face certain hazards from a clever gang of thieves. Also, she must thwart the Topham sisters who she does not get along with.

I always thought this book introduces Nancy very well. Although these books were written in the 50’s and published again in the 70’s the first in the series discusses her interest in ...

people. I also think this book is timeless. There is an innocence about the original Nancy Drew books that you do not find in some other series.

The Secret of the Old Clock has always been one of my favorites

      in this series.

Nancy does manage to outwit the thieves and find the will of Josiah Crowley.

She discovers that she has a talent for solving mysteries.

This first book shows an excitement that is not always present in the other books in the series.

Abdullah Al Noman says :

A solid start to the series that got me started on not only mysteries, but also series reads. Nancy Drew embodies everything a girl hopes to be: smart, athletic, ingenious, brave, friendly, fun, pretty, adventurous … well, I could go on and on, but you get the picture I love trying to solve the mystery along with Nancy, although it is easier now as an adult and after I have already read it before Recommended to children as a suspenseful, action-packed mystery that they can work to solve alongside Nancy. Recommended to adults for an easy, nostalgic mystery read.
