Man On The Moon with Jim Carrey, Danny DeVito, Courtney Love, and Paul Giamatti. Though hard to tell by the title, this poorly presented movie was a biography of the comedian Andy Kaufman and his alter ego Tony Clifton. It is a shame that such a stellar cast could not save this movie from its classification as trash.

The theme song was the one redeeming grace and obviously the writers knew this also as it was played constantly throughout the

film. I remember watching Andy Kaufman on the Taxi series and I never saw his character as being overly funny.

He was just an annoying fly on the excrement of life and never seemed to make things any happier. In the movie, he is shown as a strong individual who was impelled with the quest to make his audience feel better.

In my opinion, he never accomplished this goal. Jim Carrey did resemble Kaufman somewhat and tried ...

      • to be true to his role.

Since Carrey is so much funnier than Kaufman ever could hope to be, it was a shame to hold Carrey back in this portrayal. DeVito played a straight guy to Kaufman’s zaniness and did a fair job.

I found Courtney Love to be too attractive to be in love with this loser and therefore unbelievable. The wrestling scenes were not that funny.

He was called the king of negative energy and therefore became

what he created. What ever happened to the concept of giving the public what it wants? I did not see why I had to watch a movie about an entertainer who was so egotistic as to ignore that axiom.

The Radio City Hall special was corny. The ending was bizarre.

Not funny, just bizarre. He died of cancer.

Why a tribute movie was produced about this comedian is the thing I do not get. The movie was a real loser.
