Dead Even by Mariah Stewart. Part 3 of a series. Again, this is the best series of books I’ve read in a long time. Centers around family and the FBI family of special agents.

Three prisoners got together one day in a holding room and swapped names of victims that they would like to have killed. To this point, all

but 3 of the 9 victims have been killed. There is one prisoner left who needs to do his list. He is young and inexperienced at killing. He doesn’t really intend to follow through but another prisoner has sent a spy to watch him.

Miranda Cahill is the special FBI agent that is assigned to watching the prisoner who might go ...

      • on a killing spree. Unfortunatley, 1 of the victims is found dead and the FBI now believes that Miranda may actually be on the prisoners list. What the FBI doesn’t know is that the spy (Bert) is the one that killed the first victim. He is being paid to make sure that the prisoner lives up to his agreement.]

        Miranda teams

up with Will Fletcher. An old friend and FBI agent. She projects a professional attitude with him but soon the romance begins to ignite for the both of them.

Another plot begins where it left off. Mara Douglas’s daughter has been found in a commune. This commune sells the girls. Mara’s daughter has been missing for seven years now.
