The Woodshire Inn is a lovely bed and breakfast in Windsor, Nova Scotia. If you’re looking to have a great meal or a relaxing weekend, then this is the place to go. The Woodshire Inn has a comfortable, old-fashioned feel while providing guests with up-to-date technology.

The suites have lovely bedroom furniture (the beds are king-sized canopies) but the best part is the bathroom. Not only are the bathrooms spacious but they are perfect for a laid-back spa atmosphere.

The tub is large enough for two with jets as well as underwater lights–you can become mesmerized by the multiple colors flashing up through your bubble bath. Unless in a hurry to go downstairs for dinner, you will most likely opt for

the tub, but the shower is just as nice (and equally roomy).

The room is why you’ll go but the restaurant is why you’ll stay. The gourmet menu with huge portions will require you to stay for at least two days and three nights if you want to try everything.

My personal favorite meal to have at dinner is the grilled sourdough bread with roasted garlic, the Caesar salad, the spaghetti carbonara, and of course a nice glass of the Villa Mura of Sartori Pinot Grigio to accompany it. Everything on the menu is delicious but bring your appetite because the portions are NOT skimpy!

For lunch, give the House Burger a try, it’s flavorful and cooked just the way you ...

      • like it! Currently they are closed for lunch due to renovations but they will be opening again soon.

For brunch, my favorite meal (blueberry french toast) is no longer on the menu. However the steak and scrambled eggs is delicious too, so definitely try that for one meal!

The friendly atmosphere makes you feel welcome during your entire stay.

It feels more like going to a good friend’s house rather than a bed and breakfast. The dress can be casual or fancy and there is no obligation to come down to the restaurant for a meal.

Room service is available too. Scott Geddes is one of the nicest owners you will meet and he has a great memory for guests; even

if it’s been a few months since your last visit!

The only downside I can think of is that one night there was a very loud banging sound (as if the furnace was being fixed) between 3:00 and 5:00 a.

        m. If you’re a night owl like me, this doesn’t help you when you go to sleep as late as 2:45.

I only spent a weekend there so perhaps it was a one time thing, but it’s something to note in case the noise is a regular occurrence. All in all, you need to spend at least one weekend at The Woodshire Inn.

I would suggest going in the fall, that way you can experience the gorgeous foliage and the fall harvest festivities that take place too!
