When I learned that the funny trio of Jack Black, Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr. was realized, I couldn’t wait to see the film. Tropic Thunder is a morbid fascination with contemporary warfare. It does not present jokes in the obvious but it shoves a jokey momentum while creating a giggle up to your feet.

Set in the jungles of Vietnam, the story goes about one director with spoiled actors in an attempt to make a super expensive war picture. With things going badly, the better alternative for the director was result of desperation. He

ordered his actors to be off the set and drops them off everywhere. They were given maps and abandons them to survive in the jungle. They were told that there were cameras everywhere as an attempt to make a movie in the process.

What I hate about war movies is the gruesome picture of intestines scattered, headless corpse, and blood splattered, this film was no exception. This is inevitable in war films. This though was more vocal and disturbing even if it was a simulation. When the actors recreated the war, they emphasized the damage rather ...

      • than the strategies and valor. I was appalled with this embarrassing attempt to make it look real.

Another thing, the plot was way off and very confined to limited thinking. When we create something out of a historical event, mostly writers cannot improve on the story itself thus they try to create a more intelligent ploy to entertain movie goers. This was just pure and simple simulation and nothing else. I cannot think of anything to describe the plot other than it completely repulse me. Being a comedy that is would not call for an excuse.

        Lastly, having Ben

Stiller in the movie always make the movie about Ben Stiller and thats it. I experienced this both in Zoolander and Tropic Thunder. He cannot share the limelight with other actors. It seems he has this self-centered strategy in all his films. He wants that after you watch his films, you will just remember him and erase your memory with the supporting ones. My kudos to Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise though for injecting humor all throughout. I was right in the end, the former garnered and Oscar nomination while the latter a Golden Globe.
