If ever a cult movie deserved a special edition DVD it is DEATHDREAM (AKA DEAD OF NIGHT), a chilling horror film about a vietnam soldier, mistakenly declared dead, surprisingly returns home. Well, maybe not mistakenly dead.

      He is dead.

He’s an unliving vampire-zombie who needs blood to survive and, when he starts to decay, goes on a crazy rampage.

It is a minimalist production (the filmmakers were also the folks behind 1970’s low budgeter CHILDREN SHOULDN’T PLAY WITH DEAD

THINGS and would later go on to greater success with the PORKY’S films), but it doesn’t look like a tacky, cheap-o horror film.

It looks like a documentary and that drives the creepiness of it home.

        Check it out.
