This digital recorder has been a real reliable, handy companion to me. I use it for everything from personal notes, to recording lectures at school, to recording my therapy sessions for my practicum supervisor to critique (yikes!). Unfortunately, this product is so reliable that I cannot use the excuse that it malfunctioned to get out of playing the tapes back to him. The voice recording quality is really nice. Usually, you can

hear the conversation well by just playing it back on the tiny device. However, the recorder comes with excellent software for enhancing the voice quality if needed.

This is an excellent recorder for dictation or transcription. The software makes the files easy to listen to the recordings at different rates and tones so you can slow it down in while transcribing to make the task more manageable. Another feature I found useful ...

      • was the file splitter, which allows you to split the recordings up into different pieces. So, for instance, if there is something on a particular track that you do not want someone else to hear, but you do want them to hear the rest of it, you can split the file into two, the part you want to share and the part you do not wish to reveal.

Also, if you’re forgetful like me,

it comes in handy when you forget to turn the device off after recording. You just split the file into the meaningful part of the recording and the not so meaningful part at the end where you can actually be heard talking to yourself and singing endlessly to your pet. I really love this nifty little gadget. It is tiny and easy to place anywhere for a good solid sound quality recording. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, I do not think it is compatible with Windows 7. A friend of mine tried it and was unsuccessful. I have also read about others having the same problem. Good Luck

You need to take care of Digital Voice Editor Software. Yes, rather than the recorder, ensure that the software you are using is compatible with Windows 7. Sony has continued with support for Windows 7. Please install Digital Voice Editor Ver.3.3.00 or later version to use on a Windows 7 computer.

Microsoft has stopped support for Windows 7. Hence, even this version may not be in use for long. Sony has also released updated software version for Windows 10, which you can use (Version 3.3.00 will work for it as of now).

my son got the same voice recorder, but he is using it with windows 10. If i am not mistaken, windows 7 is not very stable and will not be able to handel the inputs from this recorder. so your pc/laptop might keep hanging. the voice recorder is good, just get a comaptable windows 10 that is more stable, and will support the software ( audacity) to get the audio and video rendered .
