      Ugh. Poor John Carpenter.

Has the legendary director of HALLOWEEN and ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK really hit rock bottom?

Masters of Horror is the new Showtime Cable anthology series that features a different horror genre icons directing each episode.

      Carpenter’s episode

“Cigarette Burns” deals with a collector paying a down on his luck moviet theater owner $200,000 to locate a lost silent film that had driven all the people who had seen it insane.

This episode really comes off like one ...

      • of the weaker episodes of the old MONSTERS Tv series as opposed to an A-Level cable TV series.

The budget on this is so low the production values appear like late night UHF rather than what should be expected of a

        major cable channel.

The story itself is confusing and pretentious.

Way more confusing than a story like this should be.

It seems like a half hour show stretched out to one hour and no attention to logic can be found in the script.

        Should have been better.
