“A Pocket Full of Rye” written by the Queen of Crime, Agatha Christie is a mystery featuring Miss Jane Marple.

Rex Fortescue has been poisoned Inspector Neele has been called in on the case. Surprisingly a pocket full of rye is found in his suit pocket.

Two other murders take place. Adele Fortescue,

Rex’s wife is poisoned and Gladys the maid is strangled.

Unfortunately for the investigation because Adele was the prime suspect.

Miss Marple comes to Yew Tree Lodge to solve the crime, she knew the maid she had trained her for service.

In an interesting take on an old fashioned nursery rhyme a killer stalks the Fortescue clan.

      Miss ...

      • Marple feels a sense of vengeance and with Inspector Neeles help solves the crime in her usual dithery fashion.

There is a multitude of suspects since the family members are all very unpleasant people.

The killer uses misdirection to call attention to the reason for the actual murders.

“A Pocket Full of Rye” is my personal

favorite of the Agatha Christie novels.

I read the books over and over, even though I already know who the killer is I always find something new in them.

It is very touching in the last part of the book after Miss Marple solves the crime that she recieves a letter from the girl with a snapshot of the killer.

Inspector Neele goes to Mrs Fortescue and tells her that Rex is at the hospital. He tells her that it’s likely that Rex had been poisoned. The inspector is a bit suspicious of her so he questions her a bit. He asks her about the rye that Rex had, but she ignores the question. He then leaves because he did want to trouble her at that time.
