The Best Western Ruby’s Inn is located 1 1/2 miles from the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park and, as such, is the closest accommodations to Bryce Canyon, other than the lodge inside the Park. It is open year-round and they offer seasonal activities among the amenities. Their address is 1000 S Highway 63, Bryce Canyon City, UT 84764. A bit of a warning here… if you have a car equipped with a GPS, you probably won’t be able to find the address. Use Bryce Canyon National Park, instead. To make reservations directly, you can call 1-800-468-8660 or 1-435-834-5341. Be sure to ask about any current special packages that may be available.

One of the things I really like about Ruby’s is the way it is set up. Rather than a single large high-rise building to house their 368 rooms, they have eight separate lodges. The outer lodges can give one the feeling of being in a smaller, more intimate resort, while still providing

all of the amenities of the larger resort.

The Main Lodge is the focal point of Ruby’s Inn. When you first enter the Main Lodge, you will find the front desk and a large comfortable lobby. The lobby has a number of very comfortable overstuffed soft leather couches and chairs, rustic wood tables, and an enormous rock fireplace. There are also ATM machines, a liquor store, and pay internet kiosks in the lobby, as well as free access to data ports, if you have your laptop, but do not have wireless capability. There is free wireless access throughout the resort.

To one side of the lobby you will find the General Store. The front of the store is a gift shop where you will find everything from souvenirs to digital cameras. I found some beautiful gifts that were less expensive than I would have thought they would have been in a resort shop. In the center you will find a post office, an art gallery, and ...

      • sporting goods. The back of the store is where you will find groceries.

On the other side of the lobby is the Cowboy Buffet and Restaurant. The buffet is open seasonally, but the restaurant is open year round. I had one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten and highly recommend ordering a steak!

At the back of the Main Lodge, there are upgraded guest rooms, with interior entrances, and an indoor pool and hot tub. The rooms in the Main Lodge include the “honeymoon suites,” which have a two person hot tub in the room and rooms with two queen beds and hydro massage bath tubs.

The majority of the guest rooms are located in the outer lodges. These rooms all have exterior entrances. All of the rooms include refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, irons and ironing boards, blow dryers, and free wireless access. There is an outdoor pool and hot tub at the south end of the lodges, which is open seasonally.

        Other amenities within the resort

are two gas stations and an auto shop, which are open year round, and seasonal shops and fast food. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day there is a fun exhibition rodeo. From the time the snow melts until it starts again, there are horse rides, ATV tours, and mountain bike rentals available. During the winter they rent cross country skis and snow shoes. There are also scenic helicopter and airplane tours.

The rooms I’ve stayed in have been clean and comfortable, the people at the front desk have been friendly and helpful, and the food I’ve eaten in the restaurant has ranged from good to excellent. If you are planning on visiting Bryce Canyon National Park, I highly recommend Best Western Ruby’s Inn. A word of caution… if you plan on visiting between July and mid-October, make a reservation! This is the busiest season in the area and without a reservation you may find yourself without any place to stay within about a 75 mile radius.
