  • The sound is good, and there is some nice orchestral music in there, however the DS speakers do not do it justice, so I recommend using headphones
  • I think that you should buy this game whatever type of game you like, and your game purchase history, because even though this game was made a long time ago, it still feels innovative and fresh

Super Mario 64 DS is a 3D platformer for the Nintendo DS games system. It is based on Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64. You can play as Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Wario in your efforts to get all 150 stars, and defeat the evil reptilian mastermind Bowser.

You can explore the castle, just a few rooms are unlocked at first, but by completing levels you progress through the game, until you get to the final reckoning with your in-game nemesis, Bowser. The plot is that Princess Peach sends a letter to Mario, inviting him

to a tea party. Mario, along with overshadowed Luigi, Mario’s brother, and greedy Wario, turn up at the castle, but are subsequently kidnapped by Bowser, along with the Princess. Yoshi, who turns up later, arrives to find no-one but Lakitu in his floating cloud. Yoshi then has to find the key to the castle, and rescue Mario, Luigi and Wario. After the rest of the levels are complete, you can finally try to defeat Bowser and save Princess Peach.

The graphics are good, and rival the original Nintendo 64 games’s visuals. Everything is in 3D, there ...

      • is a good frames per second rate, so everything is very smooth, and the characters are well designed, and have lots of charisma. The sound is good, and there is some nice orchestral music in there, however the DS speakers do not do it justice, so I recommend using headphones.

The platforming action is very good, and there is a lot of depth, but it is easy to learn, and the controls are very nice. I’d recommend using the D-pad (directional arrows), as it makes it easier to be precise with jumps, and avoid abstacles etc.

        I

really enjoyed Super Mario 64 DS, and it is a good buy for people who like platform games and people who have never played the original should definitely get this. For people who have played the original, then it will bring back happy memories, and the extra 30 stars make the game different to Super Mario 64 in some ways. I think that you should buy this game whatever type of game you like, and your game purchase history, because even though this game was made a long time ago, it still feels innovative and fresh.
