While recently living in Saint Louis on the famous “dago” hill I was determined to experienc all St. Louis had to offer.

My first edeavor was the famous Soulard market.

This proved to be no ordinary market,

there were vendors outside, inside and even in the parking areas.

They were hawking everything from vegetable to stuffed pretzles and Prada purses.

Although the buys were definately not in the import imposters the grocery buys were fabulous.

Fresh peas, carrots, tomatoes, potaoes, radishes onions, rutabagas, squash and every other veggie imaginable sold for one third to one half the prices in the grocery stores.

of baked goods from several of the city bakeries that enticed you with their aromas like a pied piper.

Even a selection of frozen foods were available.

as if that were not enough, you could buy a

dozen fresh cut Roses for three dollars! In other aisles there were sweats, jewelry, crafts hats and athletic gear.

This is indeed a shopper’s paradise.

If you make a trip to St.

Louis be sure to check out Soulard.
