  • There was plenty to see, and things we missed the first time will make for an interesting return visit

Being a huge Elvis fan, going to Graceland was one of the highlights of my life. Graceland is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and daily guided tours are offered at several different times.

The guided tour takes one around on a small shuttle bus, and various highlights are pointed out as you travel slowly around the estate. Pre-recorded information about Graceland is delivered to each person via a headset which s given to you before getting abord the shuttle.

After the shuttle crosses the road from the loading station into the grounds of the mansion, you will disembark for the walk through the mansion

itself. Another guide points to items of particular interest around the home, including the dining room , the kitchen where Elvis ate his fried banana and peanut butter sandwiches!

The famous “Jungle Room” where Elvis and many of his famous friends hung out, was the highlight for me, although it was lovely to view some of Elvis’ costumes and jewelry, and Priscilla’s wedding gown. There were even more costumes in one of the large outbuildings, and lots of walls covered with the gold records Elvis had been awarded.

      • site, where Elvis and his brother are now resting. The open grounds surrounded by white post and rail fences were once a playground for Elvis and his family and friends, who rode their horses and motorcycles around there.

Back at the shuttle station, we went to the gift shop and cafe for a cool drink and something to eat. The cafe is designed in period style, with a retro theme. Out back are Elvis’ two planes, one named “Lisa Marie” after his beautiful daughter. You can get on bord these plances too, and see how Elvis traveled in style, and where he took

        naps while in flight.

I really loved my day at Graceland, and plan to go back there again soon. There was plenty to see, and things we missed the first time will make for an interesting return visit.

Tickets can also be purchased in advance on the website.

Graceland is an excellent place to visit whether you are an Elvis fan or not, and I give it 10 out of 10 for a thrilling day out, and for the service and information provided. I did not expect to see as much as I did; it was awesome!
