Hmm, first a Monk Christmas episode and now a Psych one; anyone else sense a theme here? Just kidding. As far as the episode “Christmas Joy” goes, it wasn’t too bad but also didn’t quite hit the standards I’ve come to expect from this detective show.

I will say the storyline involving

Gus’ sister, and the fact that she and Shawn had a tryst 10 years before and were interested in getting back together is an interesting twist considering Gus is over protective of his sister.

And, it was funny that Gus’ dad was unemployed and didn’t want to tell the family while at ...

      • the same time, his mom was having to pay money to a bookie because she gambled away all her Christmas money.

The mystery itself was a bit lame.

You have a con artist gaining information about families that will be out of town Christmas eve by posing as Santa Claus.

        And, he

has a daughter that seems to be learning the tricks of the trade from him.

You also have his partner getting murdered so there’s obviously someone out to get him too.

But, the mystery pretty much gets solved in a matter of minutes while Gus’ family takes center stage.

Still, it wasn’t too bad of a holiday special.
