It’s amazing how one episode on an on-going series could change the relationships of pretty much every character on the show. The Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode “Lover’s Walk” is one of those episodes.

This episode shows us the return of Spike, only this time he’s without his lover Drusilla because she felt

he became too soft and left him for a demon.

He kidnaps Willow and Xander and tries to force Willow to cast a love spell on Drusilla.

In a matter of minutes, everyone’s world collapses.

Xander and Willow think they are going to die and end up in a final kiss; only to ...

      • be rescued by Oz and Cordelia at that moment and causing problems in those relationships.

Of course, I just can’t see why Xander and Willow can’t control their emotions.

I mean I know there’s hormones involved but can’t they use some common sense?

On top of that, Spike actually turns out to have

        some profound insight into relationships.

He points out to Buffy and Angel that they can never be “just friends” because they love each other.

And, since that love could cause Angel to lose his soul again, Buffy is forced to leave him for good.

This is, interestingly enough, a profound episode.

And, they didn’t even have to fight a major villain.
