“Flashpoint” is the 23rd episode of season one of Justice League Unlimited. This is easily one of the best episodes of the season, even without a big knockdown dragout fight between the heroes and any supervillian. The episode is so great because it starts the beginning of the end of the Justice League, at least as far as

      Lex Luthor is concerned.

Superman rescues the Question from Cadimus. The Question had tried to kill Lex Luthor to prevent Superman from killing Luthor, which would start the arms race between the government and the Justice League, thus spelling the end of the world. Do you have that?

The episode features a good fight between Superman and Captain Atom, as ...

      • well as superior plot weaving, including Luthor taking over the Watchtower and the Leaguers dealing with a hostile reaction from the people they swore to protect.

This episode asks lots of questions about the League, including how much power is too much power for one group to have? Who does the Justice League ultimately answer to? Is anyone

outside the league entitled to doubt the League’s judgment? The League doesn’t get to answer any of these questions in this episode, but they will eventually have to answer them if they want to keep the public’s trust.

The episode also featured a little of the Flash, which always makes an episode better. I give it 9 out of 10.
