“Plastique” is the second episode of season eight of Smallville. This was a mediocre episode that was really saved by the growing sexual tension between Lois Lane and Clark Kent, as well as an ending that really sets the stage for a larger plot arch for the rest of the season.

The episode introduces the teenager known as Plastique, who can basically blow up people and things just using her

mind. The show starts with a bang including an explosion on a Metropolis bus. It gives Clark an opportunity to save and meet his new boss, Tess Mercer. You can tell that Tess is immediately attracted to and intriqued by Clark’s mysterious ability to always be in the right place at the right time to save people.

The episode also has some great scenes with Lois and Clark.

      • Lois zings some great lines at Clark as she tries to get him used to working at the Daily Planet, although really Clark seems to adjust just fine, other than his farmer’s wardrobe. You can tell by the way Lois checks out Clark in his borrowed suit that she is fighting her growing attraction to him.

The actual storyline with Plastique is not all that interesting, but the ending

with Tess Mercer sure caught my attention. So Tess is gathering a group together, and she evens drops the hint when she says the word “injustice,” which is a reference to the Injustice Gang from DC comics. I am really looking forward to a big season-ending blow out between the Justice League and the Injustice Gang. Because of the cool ending, I give this episode a 7 out of 10.
