If you’re planning on visiting Vienna it doesn’t have to be expensive although Vienna is known for its high prices. There are things you can see for little or nothing and every one of them are worthwhile.

1.When you visit Vienna take a day to get your bearings and find your way around the city. Ride the tram around Ringstrasse Boulevard. This will take you around the core of the historic parts of the city. It will give you the location of the many museums, churches, palaces and concert halls. All of them show hints of an empire of days gone by and all this will cost is $27.00 for three days of riding the tram.

2.Vienna boast 120 museums and you will find that most of these museums charge an entry fee but on Sundays there are about twenty museums that the city runs are free entry so this should give you a day without having to spend a lot of

money. You will also find that some of the other museums combine their fee with one ticket for up to four museums. Try to include the Clock Museum which is located in one of Vienna’s oldest buildings it is definitely worth seeing.

3.Another must see would be the Vienna Spanish Riding School which is located in Hapsburg Winter Palace. The shows they charge you for are the famous white horses in training. The tickets for this can cost 165 Eros’s for seating to 18 Eros just for standing room. You can enjoy this show for a lot less if you go there in the morning to watch the routines and exercises of the horses. The training tickets cost from 12 to 9 Eros for seniors and it is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 Am to noon.

4.Take a walk back in time by visiting the Hundertwassa Village and Hundertwasserhaus in the Third District. Here you will see architecture that ...

      • truly defines the old Vienna. It is a 52 unit residential building with a convenient mall across the street. You will be astounded to see all the beautiful colors as well as trees growing on the buildings. You will be absolutely amazed with this beautiful place.

5.With a price starting at 9.50 Eros you can enjoy Schonbrunn Palace, this is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, and at a very reasonable price. Here you will find such things as the world’s oldest zoo, breathtaking gardens and ceremonial carriages. This is only approximately 30 minutes by tram from the city.

6.If you’re a major coffee drinker take in a coffee along with the sights and sounds of the city while sipping on a hot one. There is no hurry in the many cafes that dot the sidewalks. Most of these sidewalk café’s are located in some very old buildings. Some date back to the 1600’s.

7.You can’t visit Vienna without going to see St.

Stephen’s Cathedral. It sits in the heart of Vienna and is just waiting for you to come and explore. It will cost you 4 Eros to go up in the elevator but the sights you will see will be free as well as breathtaking. This place is open seven days a week from 8:30 A.M. to 6 P.M.

8.Take a stroll down Ringstasse where you will encounter musicians, small orchestras that play for small donations and while you are out and about you may be lucky enough to sit with a drink of coffee in an outside café while a band plays for you.

So there you are many things to do without breaking the bank while you’re visiting Vienna. It’s not only a good way to see this great city but also a good way to get to know its people and make memories that will be talked about around the kitchen table back home for many years to come.
