Pros: Contains a great deal of pro-life information, some good articles

Cons: Poorly presented, hard to read small font with a background that makes it worse, difficult to find information you want, out of date

Abortionfacts.com is a site that provides information on abortion from a pro-life perspective. As it is so overwhelmingly pro-life, the title is a little misleading. Those seeking information that supports the pro-choice side of the debate will find it lacking here. The site makes no attempt to be unbiased.

The first thing you notice when going to the site is a hideous yellow background. The lettering is very small and the links are written in white, which blends in with the background. This poor presentation is definitely a problem as it makes the text

      so much harder to read.

If you can get past the poor presentation, there are some good articles here. For example, there are personal testimonies by women who did not have abortions and instead gave birth and are happy. These stories are uplifting and enjoyable to read.

There is also information about abortion’s health risks. The problem is, the studies that are cited by Abortionfacts are very old. Many of them were done twenty or even thirty years ago. The site should use more updated information, as medical studies are always going being updated. Often, more modern studies may contradict previous studies. So the site makes a poor argument as to abortion’s risks. It would be much more useful if recent studies were discussed.

The site also contains information ...

      • that has been discredited. There is a large section devoted to former abortion provider Eric Harra. Harra switched from being an abortion provider to being a pro-life speaker. He told horrible stories about abortion and the conditions inside the clinic where he worked.

However, several years ago, Harra admitted that most of what he said were lies. He said he lied to get attention and money from pro-life organizations who thought he was telling the truth. Apparently, the people who made the Abortionfacts website did not know about this. Or worse, maybe they knew but didn’t bother to update their site. The interview with Harra contains information that isn’t true.

The rest of the website seems to be telling the truth. The information on the development

of the baby is accurate and has good references. It would have been nice to see some photographs of the developing baby in order to get a better idea of how the child develops in the womb. This would have made the article on fetal development more powerful.

Finally, I noticed that many of the links in the links section no longer worked. Again, this is due to the owners of the site not updating their page.

I think that Abortionfacts may have been a good site once but is now very outdated. The small print makes it hard to read, and there is even some inaccurate information. This makes AbortionInfo a poor site.

Bottom Line: There are many good pro-life sites on the web. This is not one of them.
