The Resident Evil series is undoubtedly one of the most renowned survival-horror series in the gaming industry. Many people, myself included, believe that Resident Evil 4 is the best yet in this esteemed series.

Story: In this fifth installment you take control of agent Leon S. Kennedy, a character who first appeared in Resident Evil 2, and it is your mission to investigate the disappearance of Ashleigh, daughter of the US president. To this end you travle to an isolated Spanish village which holds much more in store for

you than you could possibly have imagined.

Although the writing in this game isn’t the best I think that the overall ideas are good and a very intense atmosphere is created throughout the game. Overall Resident evil 4 has a good story which suffers from some minor dialog issues.

Gameplay: The controls in the Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 utilise the unique capabilities of the wii-mote and console. Aiming is done thorugh pointing at the screen which allows for much more precise aiming than was possible with the standard ...

      • gamecube controller and is a huge step up. Also, swinging the wii-mote can be used to slash your knife which is a subtle but cool addition which adds to the immersion.

The traditional Resident Evil gameplay of exploration, puzzle-solving and zombie slaying is still there but it has been adjusted and enhanced to allow for an even better gaming experience.

In addition to the usual story mode Wii edition includes other extras which follow the story of Ada and a fun Mercenaries mini-game.

Presentation: Resident Evil is a standout

game in terms of both its graphical quality and art style. Both of these help to enhance the overall atmosphere of the game which is essential to a good survival-horror. Animation in the game is also top notch with Leon moving very realistically and convincingly compared to other Wii titles.

Closing: Overall if you haven’t played this game yet then you don’t know what your missing out on. The Wii version is undoubtedly the definitive one so pick it up if you can. This game is a must-have and I would throughly recommend it.
