  • For someone looking to read Nora for the first time, I would not recommend starting with this series because it is not an fair representation of the body of her work in this genre

      The Pagan Stone picks up where “The Hollow” left off. For those who have already read the first two books the last book of the series is rather predictable.

      I am a great fan of Nora Roberts and have every book she has written in the last 5 years in my home.


      While I am a fan of her marriage of the supernatural with modern romance I was a little disappointed in this series.

      The characters were not fleshed out in as much detail as I would have liked and the explanation of their history prior to meeting each other was limited to maybe one page in total.

      There were characters that were mentioned but not introduced into the story - for example the main character’s sister. The sister seemed to be an important part of shaping the main characters’ views on life, and it would have made sense to have the sister show up in town.

      of the supernatural events also left something to be desired. It was difficult to picture the scene of darkness and the descriptions were as muddled as I imagine the characters.

      Nora has done an excellent job in the past with the supernatural - her fairies in Ireland, the witches, and her mermaids -

      however, she seemed a little out of her element here.

      For the Nora Roberts fan, getting this book from the library is fine. For someone looking to read Nora for the first time, I would not recommend starting with this series because it is not an fair representation of the body of her work in this genre.
