Simhachalam is a famous piligrinage and tourist spot in visakhapatnam. This very ancient temple and we visit this temple many times in a year. The central shrine of this temple is VarahaNarsimhaswami. He is another incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This is close to Prahladapuram.

It takes nearly half an hour to reach this temple by bus from R. T. C. complex.

The main thing that attracted me was temple’s architecture and sculpture. The various statues sculptured with single stone steals anybody’s hearts. Especially

the statue of Narasimhaswami in the position of Killing Hiranyakashipa(a Demon) is extraordinary. This statue is located exactly at the back of the temple top.

The other thing is beauty of the nature around the temple. As the temple is located on the hill simhachala , you can observe adorn beauty of valleys, trees, lakes on the way to the temple while traveling by bus. Here offerings of God are Pulihora and Laddu. Simhachalam pulihora is very famous as it tastes ultimate.

      • Andhrapradesh government is running many buses to this temple daily. And also thousands of devotees visit this temple daily. And also those who visit Tirupathi, will compulsory visit Simhachalam and takes the blessings of lord varahanarsimha also. Chandanotsavam is the famous festival here.

On this day, all the sandal (chandan) that has been poured on god will be removed on this day. This is done yearly once. Many devotees from various places come on this day for blessings of

god. This temple is also a famous picnic spot.

So one can find heavy rush during the seasons of November and December here. There is another speaciality of this temple is Kappastambham( A long pole). People believes that by touching this stambham gives ‘Santana’(children). So you can see many newly married couples over here.

plenty of Green champa and gold champa flowers available here. My every trip to Simhachalam was enjoyable. I enjoyed beauty of nature and received blessings of Lord Narasimha as well.
