Our local Argos store is about 2 miles away in a small retail park. The store itself is reasonably large and always so busy!

We can park at the retail park free of charge, although sometimes you might just have to wait a few minutes for a parking space.

One thing to remember if you are going to visit Argos is to take your spectacles to look at the catalogue! The store has three long tables with Argos Catalogues placed on them, by the side of each catalogue is a small electronic stock machine that you enter the catalogue item number into to see if it is presently in stock.

I have to say that the Argos staff are extremely helpful, if the item you want isn’t available in store then they will do their utmost to get it from another local store for you, transportation of an item usually takes about 48 hours.

We last visited Argos to buy some electric heated rollers, Mum had just had a visit to the hairdressers and had a perm so she needed some lightweight rollers to maintain

We looked at the catalogue and chose some Babylis heated rollers, a set of 20 at a bargain price of £19.99. Unfortunately when I typed the product code into the stock machine that particular set were out of stock.

I went along to the cash desk to ask the cashier had they had any new deliveries, often their stock is replenished so quickly that the item could well be in stock again. That set was still out of stock,a similar set of heated rollers made by Carmen, a good reputable electrical manufacturer was in stock, but the set was £29.99, a difference of £10. The cashier asked if we would like a set brought over from another store, but we thought we might go and have a scout around some independent electrical retailers first.

She then told us to hold on a moment and after another look at her computer she found a set of Vidal Sassoon heated rollers that she was able to offer us at a reduced price of £19.99.

Obviously this was going to save our shoe leather trudging around ...

      • the smaller retailers looking , we gratefully accepted her offer.

Argos never ceases to amaze me! Have you ever taken a look at the Managers Specials section? often there are a small range of items that have maybe been slightly marked in transit, these go on display at a reduced cost. We recently managed to get a Samsung Ready Digital LCD TV with £15 knocked off of the price, the casing had a `minute` scratch on it!

The Home entertainment ans Sat Nav section offers a massive choice of goods, DVD Movies, DVD Blu ray, MP3 and MP4 players, digital boxes and services and even a Karaoke machine if you are thinking of having a party!

Hotpoint, Kenwood, Cookworks and Vax are among some of the brands sold in the kitchen and laundry section.

The furniture section is crammed with innovative ideas for space and storage. Sealy, Airsprung, Layeezee, Silentnight, Rest Assured are all famous brands that feature.

The DIY section has something for everyone, lawnmowers, power tools, outdoor heating and lighting, barbecues and pressure washers. Hubby recently bought a Challenge pressure washer @ £24.99,

so handy to clean the patio slabs.

All sports are catered for, gym equipment, Nike, York, Adidas and Umbro plus many more top names.

The Health and personal care selection is vast! from mobility aids to home tanning, Braun, Nicky Clarke, Remington, Oral B all have a place in the catalogue.

Video games, an extensive range of photographic equipment, laptops, desk top computers and telephones are all stocked too.

If you are thinking of a present for anyone then Argos has to come tops! an exciting range of toys and games are in store, Star Wars, Barbie, Lego and Disney, Hornby, Tomy and Fisher Price.

The jewellery section has a display in the Heanor store, silver and gold, neck chains and bracelets, rings and watches, an elegant selection to choose from.

Argos now have a wedding gift service, they also offer gift cards as well as offering a watch and jewellery repair service.

Of course you can always check on the Internet at the Argos website to view the latest deals, or reserve your item online to pick up later on in the day. The website is comprehensive, updated regularly and well presented.

Argos has to be Top of the Shops for me!
