  • I visited this small game reserve with some Sunday School fellow class mates, as well as our Sunday School teachers and was rather disappointed to leave there after spending a couple of hours of the day
  • This is one of the smaller game reserves in the country and for a reserved, private person like me, makes for a great getaway spot and offers a great, somewhat privatized safari experience in a perfect environment for me
  • I found that they had a variety of animals on the game farm and not only wild ones
  • This was always going to be a great experience for me, as I love African safari and wild life trips, and I wish I could have stayed over for a few nights in order for me to get the true experience of the small game reserve
  • This is a great place, I think, for one to experience wildlife in a more private environment and without a lot of other people around

Monate means “lovely” or “enjoyable” in one of the native languages spoken in South Africa, and this game reserve named Tsoma Monate is quite an enjoyable place to go to.

somewhat privatized safari experience in a perfect environment for me.

I found that they had a variety of animals on the game farm and not only wild ones. There was a designated area which only had domesticated animals such as camels and tortoises and I had a lot of fun taking part in feeding these animals, as activities such as these are not normal for a suburban boy such as me.

The food and refreshments were excellent and I simply love the setting and surroundings of the residential area of this private game reserve.

      My most ...

      • enjoyable part of the day spent at Tsoma Monate, was the safari trip of cause, which we took in the specialized Jeep.

However, I found that the true safari spirit was killed by the fact that the lions of the game reserve live in captivity, whereas the herbivores run free. Having said that though, I learnt that only the young lions of the latest generation were being kept in captivity only to extend the game reserve by means of a separate lion park. I did not see any free lions and other carnivores

in the wild however and this was apparently just not the right time to spot such animals as they usually came out at night to hunt.

This was always going to be a great experience for me, as I love African safari and wild life trips, and I wish I could have stayed over for a few nights in order for me to get the true experience of the small game reserve.
