Another installment in Vince Flynn’s popular Mitch Rapp series. As usual, Flynn is right up to date with his settings and back stories.

Mitch Rapp is one of the better developed characters in popular action fiction. Flynn makes the hardbitten undercover operative the kind of guy we wish worked for the president - and the president the kind of guy we wish was in the oval office.

      The story opens

with Mitch getting terminal payback on one of the political bad guys from the previous installment. While Mitch is cleaning up loose ends, we’re introduced to an Israeli operative who is deep inside Iran’s nuclear program. The agent has uncovered what we all fear - Iran is using the power station reactor to produce weapons grade material. The agent sets off a series of explosions that result in ...

      • the collapse of the entire facility.

The Iranian collapse sets up a chain of intense action in which CIA Director Irene Kennedy is the victim of an assassination attempt. Kennedy, her Iranian counterpart and Rapp rush to destabilize the Iranian government before extremists carry out plans for global terrorism.

Rapp is getting on in age for a rough and tumble field agent. Regardless of age, though, he gives his all

for America and his fans. Just when you think he can’t make it another day, Mitch Rapp rises to the occasion.

I enjoyed Protect and Defend by Vince Flynn. Filled with exciting plot twists and believable characters in a politically charged setting, Flynn delivers. This one had me wishing I could stay awake just a bit longer each night to finish the book. Pick it up. You won’t regret it.
