The Hudsucker Proxy with Tim Robbins and Paul Newman. This bizarre film takes place in New York City in the year 1958. In the opening segment we are in a board room filled with corporate fat cats.

As they listen to the annual report, the president and founder waits for his pocket watch to hit 12 noon and runs across the meeting table out the window and to his death. It is a slow motion fall and we wonder what is happening here,

heck, the movie just began, and then we hear splat.

Tim Robbins is an out of work young man looking for a job that does not require experience since he is fresh out of college. While ready to call it quits he places a coffee cup down on a newspaper.

It forms a ring around a job that leads with The Future is Now. As he walks away the paper blows up and sticks to his pants leg.

      These two seemingly ...

      • independent scenes set the stage for a predictable and stupid film. Paul Newman plays a crabby boss at the Hudsucker Corporation and he is looking for a dupe, a sap, to take over the position in name only for the departed president.

Supposedly Robbins claim to fame is a circle drawn on a piece of paper. It is a toy for kids.

We all wonder if it is a hoola hoop, but since this movie is so fake we dismiss this theory. It turns out

to be a hoola hoop and turns Robbins into an overnight genius.

We are constantly tricked into believing that this movie will get better, but it never does. The use of funny voices only serves to make it even more stupid.

The theme of the movie is a fast rise up will end in a long way down. That idea is not worthy of carrying a feature length movie.

The acting is terrible including our main supposed stars. The twist ending is pretty good but cannot save this ridiculous flop.
