Hoc Est Christian Clothing is a clothing company with a distinctly Christian edge. I love this company, and was distressed at first to find that they were only supplying clothes with in the USA. Recently however I have found their UK site and have been happily buying up clothes for some time now.

The name Hoc Est. actually comes from the Latin phrase from scripture ‘Hoc est corpus meum’ which means ‘This is my body’. As I said, I found this company selling their wares on a Casting Crowns website castingcrows-music.com and was sad to see that they only supplied to the USA, I have since found that they have opened up a UK shop, which can either be accessed via this site or through their UK portal address which is chritian-clothing.co.uk sorry people but I just don’t know if they have a direct US portal, for obvious reasons I have not looked into that in too much detail (I don’t need to know that kind of thing, living in Scotland).

      I was a little

disappointed that the UK site doesn’t offer the same designs as the US site, as there are a couple of designs I would like that I cant get in the UK. But beggars cant be choosers, and Christian tshirts etc are very hard to come by in the UK.

Rather than complain I decided I would buy buy buy! And I have now three items in my wardrobe courteously of Hoc Est. My favourite is the tshirt that displays the number 13 on the back a la football shirt with the players name ‘APOSTLE’. This pleases me greatly, although I really wanted the I love heart Jesus bag that is for sale for some reason in the US but not in the UK.

The designs are nice, some are subtly Christian, and others are really not. This is good in that it suits all tastes.

I know a lot of Christians simply are not comfortable with the thought of wearing Christian themed clothing, they feel it will draw unwanted attentions to them and make them feel awkward. I can understand ...

      • why this would make people feel this way, but I love the excuse to share my faith with others. Although some of the designs are so subtle that this will not happen.

There is the other issue I think of it as the Bumper Sticker issue. When you drive a car with a fish bumper sticker, you are advertising the fact that you are a Christian, you need to remember that and act the way that you should. It would be a terrible example to set if you were cursing and swearing out your car window with a Jesus loves you sticker on your bumper. The same is true for tshirts and clothing. If it is a blatant design then you need to remember that you are advertising your faith, as such you must remember to watch your behaviour at all times!

Another quibble that I have is that some clothes are available to xxxl and some only to xl, being a large chap I need an xxl in most tops, and I am limited to certain products. But

this is ok, I am used to not always being able to buy the clothes I want.

In terms of delivery, I cant comment on the USA site, but the UK site delivers within a few days, which is pretty decent. The clothes seemed to be of a really good quality, but yet again I cannot comment on the US site, but there is little reason to think that they would be any different from the UK version.

The best thing is for me is that the designs are not dead cheesy. I like them because they cause people to ask questions, and this causes interest in my faith. In saying that there are several designs that are subtle enough that only another Christian would be able to detect is a Christian themed piece of clothing. Both of these facts are very good.

I do wonder about the sites companies affiliation with Casting Crowns, maybe they could do some band tshirts these are simply unobtainable in the UK. But as yet no signs . I might email them!
