This is one of the earlier books by Nora Roberts. My first time reading it and I was positively captivated!

Cody Johnson and Abra Wilson, the architect and structural engineer respectively, work together in this story on a project in the Amazon. While the temperature runs high, the heat between them gets turned high too! There is so much sparks and romance between them in the story it just keeps you craving for more.

Cody takes a first look at Abra and decides to make a

move in her direction. Abra, on the other hand, has the exact opposite reaction to Cody. Not only does she deliberately try to ignore him, she erects a mental barrier to protect herself from Cody’s undeniable charm.

There are not many other side characters in the story and the plot revolves mainly about the project that they are working on. As can be expected, they butt heads over and over again over the project. But eventually, Abra caves in and discovers that she really has ...

      • passion for Cody.

The pair of them are both very strong individuals. There is romance certainly, but Roberts also cleverly wove in humour too, though that came mainly from Cody. We also see how Cody cleverly ‘courts’ Abra in his unconventional ways.. and one of the most romantic things, according to Abra’s mum, that Cody does, is buying tires for Abra. You will have to read it to know why it is romantic.

At the end of the story, a tragic accident happens. I shall

not delve into that too much as it will certainly spoil it for you readers. But all I can say is that the accident throws up all their feelings for each other. And though there was a gripping terror on Cody’s part, the story ends on a happy note, as do all Roberts’ story.

If you are a fan of Ms Roberts, you wouldn’t want to miss this book. This is one of the finest story I’ve read under her. So what are you waiting for?
