Without any doubts the best beers on this globe are produced in the heart of Europe in Germany. There are more than 1200 breweries in Germany, producing some 5000 different beers on tap. To this day German beer is produced as stipulated by law in 1516, by mixing malt, water, hops, yeast, and nothing else.

The right to drink beer in Germany is protected under the constitution, no one may deprive another of his daily bread and since therefore beer and bread is made from the exact same ingredients. And of course the capital of Germany Berlin loves beer and probably beer loves Berlin!

/> It is a well known anecdote that there are two great reasons for drinking beer in Berlin.

The first is that you never have to queue at the bar for a drink because you have the waiter’s service everywhere (albeit for a 16% charge) and the second is that there is no such thing as closing time. Yes, you can buy yourself a beer and drink it anywhere in Berlin, inside or outside.

No fear for the law. Among the best places where you can enjoy German cookery and German beers is Mommsen-Eck, The house of 100 beers.

It is a typical Berlin casual ...

      • pub/restaurant in the heart of Charlottenburg. It was established in 1905 and it is situated in just 3 minutes far from Ku´dam / Adenauer Platz, directly on the corner of Mommsenstrasse and Giesebrechtstrasse.

Mommsen-Eck consists of restaurant, barroom and terrace with umbrellas. And it can serve up to 180 clients with either individual menus or a tempting buffet.

Inside Mommsen-Eck beer lovers can easily move to ecstasy because a selection of 100 beers from five continents is awaited for them. More than that you can also order “sloshed together and watered-down” drinks like the well-known “Alsterwasser” (Alster water - pils with Fanta), “Braunen Bären”

(brown bear - Guiness with Coca Cola), or “Krefelder” (dark beer with Coca Cola).

But for the summer time the best choice will be a “BERLINER WEISSE”. It is the young wheat beer that ferments in the bottle preferably with a shot of red raspberry or green woodruff syrup, and drunk through a straw.

The main purpose of the syrup is to disguise the actual taste of the beer. Such combinations will satisfy all tastes without exceptions.

I ordinary prefer the red “BERLINER WEISSE” when I spend the free time here in the company of my friends. I am sure that you will have a good time in the Mommsen-Eck.
