Air Asia has been a very popular airline in South East Asia due to its low cost tickets. I was their passenger on a couple of occasions. The concept is pretty similar to the famous budget airline in the Europe - Ryanair.

The ticket price is no doubt one of the cheapest in this region. There are several promotions from time to time and you might be able to get free tickets as well. The only fees you have to pay is the taxes. Just be prepared to suffer long waiting time due to the heavy traffic on its reservation web site. If you want to get these free tickets, you will need to spend some time

trying to get into the system.

Nearly all the planes used by Air Asia are new planes or newly refurbished planes. All of them look very new and nice. Just don’t expect them to use the likes of 747 since they focus only on regional flights. There are plans to fly as far as London but I’m not too sure about that since I’ve never been their passenger in long distance flight.

The interior of the planes is very clean and tidy. However, the seating space can be quite small, as expected for a budget airline. You also cannot lower down your seats much. This might be a bit uncomfortable to some passengers. There is no entertainment either,

      • only magazines. Be prepared to get disturbed if there are a lot of kids or crying babies on the flight. Also, there is no booking or reservation system. The seating arrangement is first come first serve basis. That is why it might be worth it to spend a little bit more on the priority boarding (it’s very cheap for senior citizens).

During the flight, the cabin crew will sell food and drinks. The famous food in Air Asia is Nasi Lemak. However, the quality has dropped drastically over the years. It used to be very good. Other food and drinks, they’re quite expensive.

The cabin crew is quite polite for a budget flight. I was a victim

of rude treatment during my travel with Ryanair, so I know how it feels. I don’t feel any bad treatment during my flight with Air Asia. The only bad thing about the cabin crew is that they are no standards for the hairstyle or make up. The cabin crew has the freedom to do what they want, and at times, the make up can be quite scary.

Overall, this is quite a good airline with okay service and very affordable ticket price. As their slogan says “Everyone can fly” and I really believe that Air Asia has achieved that objective.

For those who complains about lousy service, seating place and timeliness, just remember you get what you pay.
