In 2000 while hunting for a second family car, we did a short lease of 2000 Ford Focus Station Wagon. This was the first year for the Ford Focus Station Wagon, as it was suppose to replace the Ford Escort Station Wagon. Ford shouldn’t have bothered.

This Station Wagon, was certainly roomy. Plenty of leg space for both driver and passenger in the

front, and in the back there was space for three passengers.

This hatch back had adequate storage space, but if you put more than sixty pounds of weight in this large hatch (i. e My 80 pound dog) the vehicle would start groaning around 80km/hour.

And it was a terrible groan!

Even highway driving with no weight in the back, the vehicle would begin ...

      • groaning at 80km. Once you put your foot down and hit 90km the vehicle proceeded to drive much more smoothly.

Just like the old defected Aries K cars. This station wagon was good on gas, costing about $5 more to fill the tank than a Hyundai Accent.

Our reason not to keep it was finalized by two things. Doing a right hand turn

was a challenge, this vehicle would groan and groan.

Also the front of the vehicle was very low, so that if you drove over even a relatively small stone on the highway, it would grate against the front of the vehicle. It was definatly not worth the $16,000CDN price tag with all its problems.

Hopefully the newer Ford Focus’s have their bugs worked out. Don’t buy the 2000 model.

I have a Ford Focus 2000 station wagan SE model. I put a new set of tire on it recently. When you driving this car around 30 mph or higher, every time you hit any bump or uneven road surfaces, car looses his balance and goes left and right for while then back to normal. Initialy I thought the tires are seperating, therefore I bought a new set of tires. That did not help eighter. I just wonder what would casuse this problem?
