“Divided We Fall” is the 25th episode of Justice League Unlimited, season one, and for all intents and purposes, it is the season finale even though one more episode remains. It is a great episode and brings the year to a satisfying conclusion.

Lex Luthor and Brainiac have merged, Brianiac supplying the alien intelligence and Luthor supplying the motiviation and creativity. The episode is basically one big fight from start to finish. Luthor fights off

the orignal seven of the Justice League and escapes, although not before giving the Martian Manhunter a chance to shine by saving the entire team. Later in the episode, Wonder Woman saves the day by wrecking Luthor’s technology stealing machine.

But this episode belongs to the Flash. The entire season the writers led us to believe that somehow the Flash was going to be heavily inolved in the final scene, and they did not ...

      • let us down. Even though Wonder Woman wrecked his machine, Brainiac is still standing and ready to fight, and the entire League is out cold, except for the Flash.

The Flash has always been one of my favorite characters and he does not disappoint. At first, he runs away but mere seconds later he appears behind Luthor, having circled the globe, and with astounding momentum behind him, clobbers the villian over and over again. The

artists of the series do a great job of showing us flashes of different world locations as the Flash keeps circling the globe, each time bashing Luthor harder and harder. The effort almost costs Flash his life, but in the end, the good guys win.

The Flash is possibly the second most powerful hero in the DC universe behind Superman, and this episode really nailed that point home. I give this episode a 10 out of 10.
