  • The best part of the game is that it's challenging and fun, and I found the life meter to be very generous--or maybe I just never ran out of life because I kept dying, having it automatically refilled
  • The enemies regenerate, but depending on where you're at on the screen, they sometimes don't, giving you a brief rest, which I found was sometimes needed
  • The combination of the story, sound effects, graphics, and the ability to climb on walls makes this a game everyone with an NES should own, and I think is a great game of its genre

Ninja Gaiden is a well-balanced action game, including a developing storyline, infinite continues, weapons, and you have the ability to climb and jump from walls, adding a dimension that isn’t there when you’re just running through a level, jumping over obstacles and enemies. The enemies aren’t impossible to defeat, and each has their own method of attack. If you die, and you still have

some lives left, you start closer to where you died at. If you die, and it was your last life, you return to a slightly further position. Either way, their is minimal replaying of the same level or section if you die.

      • I just never ran out of life because I kept dying, having it automatically refilled? The items are sometimes very helpful, but most of the time not necessary to progress through the levels. The graphics, music, and sound effects match the style of the game, and the timer reminds you to keep moving. There’s a good balance between when enemies come at you, and
when you can stop and rest. The enemies regenerate, but depending on where you’re at on the screen, they sometimes don’t, giving you a brief rest, which I found was sometimes needed.
