  • I think there are two great all time romantic movies Gone with the Wind and Pretty Woman
  • The best way to describe this movie is a fairly tale movie about a prostitute Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts) who meets the handsome rich man Edward Louis (Richard Gere)
  • I believe that Pretty Woman was the passport of success for the actors, Julia Roberts and Richard Gere
  • Interesting about this movie is that Al Pacino turned down the role of Edward
  • He also had to tickle her feet to make her smile while Roberts and Gere were watching I Love Lucy

I think there are two great all time romantic movies Gone with the Wind and Pretty Woman. How did a movie created in 1990 managed to be as successful as the very much renewed 1930’s classic movie? Simply - great actors, script, filming and director. This is in short what “Pretty Woman” is about!

The best way to describe this movie is a “fairly tale movie” about a prostitute Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts)

who meets the handsome rich man Edward Louis (Richard Gere). From what had to be a one night relationship, it grows in friendship and love. But will it last?

I believe that “Pretty Woman” was the passport of success for the actors, Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. After this movie they were involved in other great movies, but may I also add that they never reached the same level of success as “Pretty Woman”. This ...

      • is also the most famous movie for the director, Garry Marshall along side with “The Princess Diary”.

Interesting about this movie is that Al Pacino turned down the role of Edward. The same must be said for the actress Molly Ringwald and Daryl Hannah who didn’t feel they had to interpret Vivian. The studio originally wanted Meg Ryan to interpret the role.

It seems that the director of this movie had a lot of extra work

in the movie when he had to calm down Julia Roberts because she got nervous during the sex scenes. He also had to tickle her feet to make her smile while Roberts and Gere were watching “I Love Lucy”.

“Pretty Woman” is a classic romantic movie that everyone must have in their c.d. collection. Roberts, Gere and Marshall teamed up again for “The Runaway Bride” but they failed to reach the same success level of “Pretty Woman”.
