  • Unfortunately, there were quite a few of those scenes
  • I enjoyed the lower key Michael scenes, including his testimonials to the camera man, like where he compares his relationship to the baby like one of those dogs that nurses a baby tiger, admitting it is unnatural but claiming things like this happen

“Baby Shower” is a more romantic episode of the Office, which airs on NBC on Thursday nights. The episode features the return of Jan, Michael’s ex-girlfriend. Michael is all excited beause he thinks Jan is going to let him be involved in her baby’s life, even though Jan was impregnated at a sperm bank. As Jim explains to the audience in one scene, Michael would only be related to the baby by delusion.

There were a lot of funny moments in this episode, although a

few bits fell flat. The scenes with Dwight crash testing Jan’s baby carriage were over the top and not very humorous. Unfortunately, there were quite a few of those scenes. I enjoyed the lower key Michael scenes, including his testimonials to the camera man, like where he compares his relationship to the baby like one of those dogs that nurses a baby tiger, admitting it is “unnatural” but claiming “things like this happen.”

Michael had a lot of other funny comments, like when he ...

      • tells Holly that Janis in her ‘terminal” stage of her pregnancy. He also tells Holly that, because she attractive, he is going to be mean to her while Jan is there. He also tells Holly he is going to treat Ryan the ex-temp in the same fashion, thus once again confirming his man-crush on Ryan.

I found this episode pretty romantic. Jim and Pam have a bad day, but you still watch their interactions from between different cities and you realize how right they

are for each other. Also, I liked that Michael finally stood up to Jan, in his own way. She must have figured Michael would be drawn to Holly’s dorky sense of humor, telling him not to date her. Michael finally just walks up to Holly and hugs her, which was very sweet and heartfelt. He even choked out enough to ask her out on a date.

Other than the numerous Dwight scenes, this was a quality episode. I would give it an 8 out of 10.
