I was part of a group touring India and of course arriving at one of the famous building of all times, the Taj Mahal.

What is intriguing about the whole place is not just about the sheer size of this place, the beautiful surrounding and of course the wonderful tales that abounds with the histor of the place, but how this place is being managed and the surrent sites.

      On the road leading to

the Taj Mahal, you’ll be stopped many times by the locals, sometimes very young kids selling all sorts of momentos and souvenirs to the tourists. Most sells common items, as they run around, blocking tourists and persuading them to buy in bulk.

In addition, it is to note that they may even follow you up to 50m, just so you buy something from them. It is also interesting to see how they are willing to drop their prices along the way, sometimes to a fifth of what they intially offered. Of course, if you are interested, you may then counter-offer.

Next, upon reaching the entrance, the queue to buy tickets are separated not by ticket prices - but by separating the men and women. It is hard to believe that in he 21st century, there qre still places that queues up like this. Mind you I’m ...

not being pissed or against the system, it’s just that I never thought some filtering is still in place out there.

Well, I do have good impression of the actual buildings, the way each bells and cone structures mean something, the way the defence structure was imbuilt to withstand hostility, and the magnificent building involved.

I had the chance to wander up the stairs in some areas and was very much astounded by the

things I see. The view form the Taj Mahal is fantastic.

Finally, the way out of the Taj Mahal is as how you came in - and at dusk, you only need to pay sepcial attention to your belongings and valuables, as it is warned that pickpockets are a common sight there.

Overall, I do not have a very goodexperience despite the breath-taking view. Given a choice, I’ll take that as my last visit.

Tajmahal is a beautiful place to visit. It’s a part of 7 wonder of world. Many stories connected with it. But Shahajan and begum mumtaz love story is quite famous.its believes that Shahajan had been made this palace in the memory of his loving wife Mumtaz.

quick note by anonymous :

Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world and the marbles that made it were brought by Shah Jahan from Jaipur as the marbles of Jaipur are of the best quality in the world.

When the way is one we have to be careful as it’s the same way that people are coming in which may include pickpockets.

It’s true that the children sell all sorts of momentos and souvenirs and most of them will follow the tourist upto 50m. Though, not always convinced by the quality of the product they are selling, I have purchased a few items for them in all of my three visits to the Taj Mahal as I feel, that it would be part of their day’s earning.

Yes children sell all momentos and souvenirs there. I don’t think this is a good thing as it elevates the risks of pick pocketing.
