I can see why And Then There Were None (which has also been published as Ten Little Indians) is one of Agatha Christie’s popular books, even though it lacks M. Poirot or Miss Marpole. The flow of the book is seamless, and the reader is immediately aware of the situation and

The fact that the reader is aware of the mystery before the characters is a tidy bit of irony, especially as the plot is neatly contrived such that while a reader is given several clues, it is difficult to figure out ‘whodunnit’. This is a fun book to read. Several of the youth who I lent this book to said that they read it all in one reading, intent on getting to the end to find out what happened.

makes sense and was indicated in the book, and yet in this book there is no feeling of letdown. The solution wasn’t obvious, nor was it entirely necessary in order to make the book chilling and suspenseful. Knowing who did it does not change the feeling toward the end where you
sort of want some characters to do something, and they don’t do it.

One thing I noticed, although I haven’t seen the movie, was that several people told me how the movie ended and it was different from the book. So even if you’ve seen the movie, you could still enjoy this book.
