  • I absolutely love my copy of the DC Comics Encyclopedia that I bought online about a year ago for a great price of $19.99
  • I was tempted to read the Encyclopedia straight through when I first bought it, but I found myself skipping through to read about my favorite heroes and villians, and whoever else I found interesting as I browsed
  • I greatly enjoyed the golden age artwork featured in parts of the Encyclopedia as well as the ultra modern artwork with vivid colors and realistic proportions
  • I would recommend this book for any DC comics fan

I absolutely love my copy of the DC Comics Encyclopedia that I bought online about a year ago for a great price of $19.99. This is a thick book detailing hundreds of characters and events in the DC Universe. It features so much artwork from so many different artists that you are treated to something new with almost every

      page.

You could read DC comics for years and not learn as much as you could by simply reading this book. I was tempted to read the Encyclopedia straight through when I first bought it, but I found myself skipping through to read about my favorite heroes and villians, and whoever else I found interesting as I browsed.

I liked the Encyclopedia because it features a lot of villians in addition to the heroes. It also features summaries of vehicles, events, team-ups and other important aspects of the DC Univerise. The book was published fairly recently, in 2004, so most of the information is fairly up to date, but there are plenty of examples where characters’ biographies do need updating.

      • DC Comics Encyclopedia

The main heroes and villians get splash double page spreads, while the lesser characters are relegated to a forth of a page. I greatly enjoyed the golden age artwork featured in parts of the Encyclopedia as well as the ultra modern artwork with vivid colors and realistic proportions. Also, the cover painted by Alex Ross is a masterpiece. It

is almost worth buying the book just for the cover. If you are not familiar with Ross, his painting creates an ultra realistic depiction of characters who almost leap off the page. It is the closest thing to seeing these characters in real life. I would recommend this book for any DC comics fan! It is a great resource.
