Among the rides and attractions in the Future World side of Epcot in Walt Disney World, FL is “Ellen’s Energy Adventure” which is located in the “Universe of Energy” pavilion. This was the home of the original “Universe of Energy” ride. It was revamped and now features the very hilarious Ellen DeGeneres. Ellen winds up dreaming while watching the show, “Jeopardy” and winds up on Jeopardy and finds that she keeps getting questions on a subject that she knows little about….Energy. However she’s playing against an old college chum known as “Smart Judy” who incidentally is played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

      Well as luck would

have it her neighbor is the “Science Guy”, Bill Nye and he takes Ellen on a journey through the history of energy. At this point, the theater rotates and then the theater rows break off into giant cars that start your journey.

A new show starts here every 17 minutes. It has a short pre-show which runs about 8 minutes long and then when you go inside the theater, the cars, which are actually rows of theater seats takes you on another 37 minute ride to prehistoric times within the land of dinosaurs that to have a look at the original forms of energy ...

      • and then onto the more modern forms of energy and a look at the possibilities that the future may hold for energy. This ride needs some T. Boone Pickens! (pickensplan.com)

This ride is complete with Animatronics and some of the most noteworthy are those of the dinosaurs in prehistoric times. And much like a few other attractions at Epcot, when you travel through the dinosaur time exhibit, you have a whiff of a very distinct smell of dirt that is almost like the way it smells just before it rains. I love these smell effects!

This ride is a long one, but it’s good and it definitely

gets you out of the heat and off your feet on a hot busy day at the park. There may seem like a ton of people waiting for the next show, but not to worry. The ride holds 600 people for every show so you will get on when the doors open for the next show. I liked this ride even before it had Ellen in it. Now that it does, it’s even that much better. She’s really funny and adds a good deal to an already good classic Disney attraction. Ellen continually shows up throughout the ride in her animatronic form.
