  • We greatly enjoyed the storyline, simple as it was - a daughter meets someone, falls in love and wants to get married, and the father is struggling with the thought of letting his little girl go

I had first watched that movie when a friend of mine was getting married; she was looking for wedding ideas, and someone had recommended the just released “Father of the Bride. ” Well, as to wedding ideas, my friend did not get any: her finances were far more modest than those of Steve Martin’s character

who organizes his daughter’s wedding and ends up paying $250 per guest.

But that was the movie’s only fault.

      • go.

The casting and acting are very good, too.

Steve Martin and Diane Keaton are great together as the husband and wife whose views on their daughter’s coming marriage are directly the opposite: the mother is delighted, and the father is shocked and upset.

The hassles of the wedding arrangements are hilarious, complete with

Franck the wedding coordinator (Martin Short) who can barely speak English but certainly can spend his clients money very well.

We had rented this movie last week, almost fifteen years after I first watched it, and it was just as good, funny and touching.

It is safe to watch with the kids, too: no swearing or nudity.
