Lyndsey and I stayed at the Birmingham Metropole by the NEC went to watch a concert at the NEC in Birmingham recently we decide to treat ourselves and stay over in a hotel close to the NEC.

The hotel is operated by the Hilton group, the hotel is not only ideal for the NEC where we were visiting but also it is only ten minutes away from Birmingham Airport. The hotel is in a modern building and it looks in good condition. When we arriving there is a very large car park which you have to pay to use it cost us seven pound for the night. Inside the hotel there is a very modern and welcoming lobby and reception area with plenty of places to sit and wait and chat,

there is also a small internet area in the lobby where you can go to surf the net.

The checking in process was very good we were checked in within about five minutes, there was only a small queue so we didn’t have to wait long to be scene to. The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful and gave us a good impression of the hotel.

The room we had was very nice it had very big floor to ceiling windows with great views of the lake. The room was large and had a comfy double in it along with one comfy chair. The bathroom was very nice and well appointed with a bathtub big enough for two. Then there was all the other things you would expect from ...

      • a bedroom including the tea and coffee making facilities, the trouser press and a large TV. There are even games that you can play on the TV if you want. Putting on my business head for a moment this would be an ideal hotel to stay at when on business as it has a large desk area to work at and it also has high speed internet access.

We made use of the leisure facilities the morning after the concert at the NEC, the facilities are excellent they include a very well equipped gym and weights room, a wonderful indoor heated swimming pool which made us wish we had bought the kids with us. We also used the Jacuzzi and the sauna and steam rooms.

On the evening we ate at the

Millers gastro pub with the hotel which is set in there conservatory and is very nice. Lyndsey had the tiger prawns in chilli and I had a great sirloin steak. The service was quick as this is a restaurant that people who are visiting the NEC use so as long as you let them know what time you have to be at the concert. The staff were very helpful and friendly and they made sure that we left in plenty of time to get to the concert.

Overall I would rank this hotel very highly and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a hotel in the area of the NEC or Birmingham airport whether it be just for a night or for a long weekend this hotel was excellent.
