When my husband and I migrated to United States, we found out that with the crazy weather changes and the fast paced life, owning your own vehicle is a necessity. In my home country, public utility vehicles are the most common way to commute. There are jeepneys, taxi cabs, buses and even tri-bike almost everywhere you go. We own a Honda car back home but we were fortunate to have saved and find a good deal on that previously owned car.

So in US,after a month of online search to find a pre-owned car in the internet, we were becoming desperate. Lucky us, my husband’s boss knows someone who is selling his ACURA INTEGRA LS. We bought it for $2500.

We just loved it! It’s a four door eggplant colored car that is quite similar to a

Honda Civic’s frontal appearance. There were a few scratches on the bumper and the roof had lost its shiny coat. But we looked at its imperfect exterior and fell for the smooth ride that it showed us when we test drove it.

It also have a good cooling and heating system, power windows and cruise control. It also comes with dual airbags, 4-wheel disc brakes and standard antilock braking. We had the exterior fixed in a cheap car shop.

After a few days, to our surprise, the car look sleek, shiny and so stylish. After an intensive interior cleaning and changing its rugs, we could not ask for more aesthetically. It doesn’t look $2500ish at all.

All in all, we spent more or less $2800 to improve the car’s appearance. With regards ...

      • to performance, its engine revs like crazy! We are very satisfied because Fuel Economy is amazing with an average of 15 miles per gallon for city driving and 32 miles per gallon on freeway driving. It cruises quietly when we drive at a speed not faster than 80 mpg but expect a noisier and bouncier ride when we go faster.

I am so proud to say that this car brought us to Detroit , Michigan (from Herndon,Virginia) twice and no mechanical problems occur. It also proved its reliability in shorter drives like Washington, DC to Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania and Detroit ,Michigan to Chicago, Illinois. It withstand the summer heat and the extremely winter days with no trouble at all.

With regular check ups, routine change oil and proper car care, we were able to

keep the car running from the time we purchased it. Its mileage was 118K miles when it was handed to us, now it still performs well with a mileage 126K miles. I also have to comment on the spacious cargo room and fine interior ergonomics and gauges.

This Acura Integra is dependable. We love it and we’re keeping it even when we decide to get a new car. But if we ever decided to sell it, it will not still be cheap secondhand.

It has a high resale value and according to Kelley’ Blue Book ( a site which estimate the market vale of your vehicle), we can still put it on market for $2200. Don’t you just love that! We got it for $2500, have been using it for 2. 5 years and still sell it for $2200!
