Priory Member: A series of tests were created for applicants in order to prove them worthy of entry into the Priory of Sion.

Me: Oooh How very interesting. And what was that series of tests?

Priory Member: Well, it’s the de Vinci Helix game silly!

Me (trembling): What are the rules?

Priory Member: Well, there are these groups of balls, see? You have to group three or more balls of the same color to make them kabloowee!!! Eliminate all balls and you move on to the next level. Now ain’t this the greatest test ever?

Sounds familiar (Ahem, Zuma, ahem ahem, Luxor)

Priory Member: No, no, no! There’s nothing familiar here. These series of tests was kept secret by the Priory for ages.

Me: Yeah right. Lemme have it.

Priory Member: Now here are the rules. You press the 5 button thingy here to fire them balls and

(I grab the darn cell phone and get to work, firing away balls and putting them next to balls of the same color, gathering power-ups and firing some more.)

Priory Member (wide-eyed and open-mouthed): Holy Grail! I’ve never seen someone as talented as you before.

Me: That’s because old members ...

      • like you haven’t played Zuma or Luxor before.

Priory Member: What is that Luxor? Zuma? I’ve never heard of such things.

Me: those are two of the top selling video games today.

Priory Member: Lies! Deceit! Falsehood! None of these exist! You are a heretic!

I simply smile and give him a copy of the two games.

Helix is an ok game. It’s just that it’s not that original. It only hopes to go with the flow of the success of the da Vinci Code and provide fans with additional memorabilia to purchase. The game is quite addicting and has high replay value

yet the presentation is just not as good. The graphics and sound don’t fare well either. And the dialogue ugh, it feels very tacked on was added just to incorporate some of the da Vinci code elements.

It is still worth some of your time if you have purchased the game and is also a nice addition to your collection of memorabilia if you are a die hard da Vinci fanatic. Just don’t expect it to be a groundbreaking game or it to be an original one (like the da Vinci Code: Light Puzzle also reviewed on Reviewstream).
