I attended Delaware State University for my undergraduate studies and obtained my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology in 2008. The school itself is very easy to get into, with an acceptance grade point average (GPA) of a 2. 5, with my high school GPA being a 3.

3 I was accepted without ever filling out an official application. There is also the possibility of students being accepted to the school on a probational period if their GPA is lower than the accepted standard.

Although, this is the case–academics at the University are exceptional. The students are mostly African-American (Delaware State University is a HBCU which

means that it is a Historically Black College or University) with some or most of its White attendees being sports players.

Small classes are an added plus to the University. This makes it much easier to learn and easier for students to talk to their teachers when they have a problem.

Teachers usually become familiar with students by name. There is plenty of things to keep yourself busy at the University.

Student activities inlcude Greek cookouts, step shows, and even concerts filled with some of the hottest artists or groups of the time. The issue with Delaware State University then becomes–finance.

      The tuition ...

      • prices are at a steady increase where there is no view of improvement in the given areas. When the problem of finances arises–students are usually put on the back-burner and it is quite evident that there is really no concern for your educational success rate.

Some students who have went most of the year completing classes were “purged” (deleted) from the school’s system for a mere fifty cents (tuition is non-refundable) without being given any fair warning or notification before hand. There has been both bad and very bad publicity regarding the school in the last 3 years with the brutal murders of

3 New Jersey students and during the memorial service held on campus for these students, the former President of the University–Dr.

Sessoms took it upon himself to endorse Delaware State University to further recruit students on National television (This was highly inappropriate). Money is the main object of most if not all Universities.

Yes, school like many other things, is a business too. But there comes a concern that at least the University administration has the responsibility to pretend to care about the well being of the students.

I don’t think that I can say that this is done at Delaware State University.
