Back with a blast is the third and final installment of the Mighty Ducks trilogy. It is an amazing family movie. I liked it just as much as the other Mighty Ducks movies. The Mighty Ducks team have been invited to play high school hockey on scholarship at Eden Hall Academy. Coach Bombay reveals that he has an offer for Team USA hockey, and will no longer be the coach of the ducks.

Although Emilio Estevez only has a small role in this film, I still feel it is a great movie. Actor Jeffrey Nordling does a great job at

filling the shoes of Emilio Estevez, with his angry coaching style and harsh ways.

The inroduction is good, as mentioned above. Charlie is upset about the new coach announcement, and struggles to find common grounds with the new Coach Ted Orion. This part of the movie is very entertaining because of the lack of bonding that was shown between team and coach in the previous movies. The entire movie bases itself on little “duck tricks,” as Coach Orion likes to call them. It also continues with the lack of respect for the new coach.

In the beginning of the movie, I ...

      • found out that the Jesse Hall character would not be returning to The Mighty Ducks. This made me angry, because he was a very fun person to relate to. Also, Dean Portman does not return for very long, only having a smaller role towards the end of the movie, but makes for a good storyline to follow.

The games are funny as usual, filled with unrealistic but entertaining goals, passes, spins, etc. All of your favorite moves from the old Mighty Ducks movies are also re-introduced into the third. In my opinion, though, the movie was missing something. For

some reason, it wasn’t until the second half of the movie where I felt that D3 was truly following its predecessors.

Overall, the movie is now a 7/10 instead of an 8. This movie is not considered that high by many, but I felt a special love for this series since its start in the early 90’s. It’s sure to leave you laughing the entire movie, but also has its high dramatic moments. A good film, worth a rental. It can also be seen on TBS fairly often. Watch this movie if you’ve seen the other two. You should like it.
