  • One thing I would definitely recommend, as with any PDA, is to get unlimited internet, it will truly make your PDA experience that much better
  • What I also love about the Samsung Blackjack is the fact that it is Windows Mobile based, while the Operating System is sometimes too slow, the amount of support and programs for Windows Mobile based phones is amazing
  • Unfortunately, for you fast texters, the phone does not always recognize when you push a key which can make it frustrating when you are trying to push the already small keys (Side Note
  • The final issue I have with this phone is the way that the Windows Media Player will organize music

The Samsung Blackjack is a 3G phone for AT&T’s mobile service. Pre-installed with Windows Mobile 5 the Blackjack can be upgraded to Windows Mobile 6 through AT&T’s website.

First things first, the sound quality on this phone is GREAT on both speakerphone and audio coming from the handset itself. The phone also includes a great volume control that truly boosts volume instead of seeming more like an accessory (like some of these cell phones on the market).

Another great feature of this phone is battery life. When the phone was first released, the battery life was rather disappointing for a PDA style device. However, Samsung quickly solved the mistake by releasing larger batteries for the phone. I used the larger battery for awhile but have been sticking to the smaller one and have been receiving

2 days worth of power, even though I talk and text a lot throughout the day. This is also impressive as I use the internet on the phone, A LOT!

One thing I would definitely recommend, as with any PDA, is to get unlimited internet, it will truly make your PDA experience that much better. Plus, thanks to AT&T’s 3G service as well as the Blackjack’s compatibility you are able to get pretty good speeds in 3G service areas. On top of all of that this phone does allow for Internet Sharing. The great thing about internet sharing is that you can use your computer anywhere that you get a signal!

      • slow, the amount of support and programs for Windows Mobile based phones is amazing. As a matter of fact, there are TONS of forums out there for the Samsung Blackjack regarding customization, among other things.

When it comes to contacts, Samsung did the right thing in allowing you to sync your contacts via Microsoft’s Active Sync. This process is actually as simple as downloading Active Sync and plugging in your phone.

The Blackjack isn’t perfect, though. Like all PDA’s the Blackjack comes equipped with a full Qwerty Keyboard. Unfortunately, for you fast texters, the phone does not always recognize when you push a key which can make it frustrating when you are trying to push the already small keys (Side Note: They made some improvements to this on the released Blackjack 2).

        As I mentioned

before, the Windows Mobile Operating system is rather slow, as well, which can be frustrating if you are in a hurry to do something on your phone. However, there are a few tweaks out there that can make your phone quicker.

The final issue I have with this phone is the way that the Windows Media Player will organize music. When I play a song a certain number of times, the media player changes the tags for that song and reorganizes it under “Unknown Artist” which is a pain when I don’t realize it and begin searching for that one song I’ve been trying to listen to.

All in all the Samsung Blackjack is a great phone. It is, however, better suited for people who understand Windows Mobile operating systems as the menu’s can get confusing.
