I watched Mummy 3 movie yesterday with my friends. I thought I would share my opinions here.

The storyline of this movie is indeed good. It is based on ancient China. It even involves the building of the great wall of China. It is not a sequel to the other two Mummy movies. That is why the setting is in China rather than Egypt.

Anyway, the storyline is similar to the other two movies. An evil emperor gets a

magic book. Only a witch can read it (as it is written in Sanskrit). The evil emperor entrusts his general to get the book read. The general falls in love with the witch (who is immortal). The king himself wants the witch, but when he comes to know that the witch is in love with the general, he gets furious and kills the general. The witch in turn curses the king to become solid iron. No one should awaken the king by reading the king, lest he would arise invincible.

Now we find ourselves in modern day. Fraser’s son Alex who is just a small chap in Mummy 3, now is a grown up young man. He seems to fall in love with every girl he meets. Fraser and his wife are living in England. Somehow Alex (who does research in China!) finds out the tomb of the emperor and manages to awaken him. Fraser ...

and his wife come to China as ambassadors. Now the trio along with the witch and the witch’s daughter fight to save the world by killing the evil emperor and send him back to his tomb.

Brendan Fraser does his usual role and is good. But Rachel Weisz is replaced by Maria Bello. Jonathan is played by the previous actor himself. Jetli is the evil emperor and I loved him the most.

Some disappointments in the movie are that

there are no bugs, pigmies or scorpions which were the characteristic of mummy movies. Also the war is nothing as compared to the war of Mummy 2. The music is also not that good. Compared to Mummy and Mummy 2, Mummy 3 doesn’t live to the expectations. But still it is worth to wash. Atleast in the next movie I expect the old egyptian music and Rachel Weisz to be back.

I would rate this movie 6 out of 10.
