  • It was an amazing holiday as we were experiencing freezing temperatures here in Germany and on the contrary Gran Canaria was beautiful and sunny (around 18 degrees C) around that time
  • The Yumbo centre is the best place in Playa De Ingles to go shopping and clubbing
  • The bars there were good- Garage is one I would recommend
  • Besides the sea surfing and sun bathing, the place offers few very interesting spots one must cover

Last year, we went to Gran Canaria in December for a week. The idea was to celeberate our New Year at a nice relaxing summer spot. And what could be better than Gran Canaria (Spain) in Europe. The Canary Islands of Spain with a preferred climate and constant temperature through all the year, and splendid beaches of fine sand, consists of 7 larger islands (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, La Palma, Gomera and Hierro).

It was an amazing holiday as we were experiencing freezing temperatures here in Germany and on the contrary Gran Canaria was beautiful and sunny (around 18 degrees C) around that time. .

Hardly anywhere else can you find such different landscapes and even climatical zones being geographically that close one to each other: mountain massives, desert land, tropical forests etc.

We had an apartment booked at the Appartment Horizonte (Playa De Ingles) just facing the beach. The apartment was lovely, clean and comfortable. The Yumbo centre is the best place in Playa De Ingles to go shopping and clubbing.

We found a nice resturant called Resturante Centrum on the second floor of the Yumbo. Also there were some very good restaurants - Indian, Chinese, Italian and Thai and Lots of Steak Houses. We loved relishing different cuisines each day.

      • We also visited bar nestor which is a great pub too. We went to the Kasbah Center for a couple of hours in the late night hours. The bars there were good- Garage is one I would recommend.

Besides the sea surfing and sun bathing, the place offers few very interesting spots one must cover. Puerto Mogan is a beautiful upmarket fishing port - greatly expanded over the last few years, but still retains it’s original charm. The rock formation to the side of the harbour is quite unusual.

You can climb up and around the pathway and take a look down for a good view of

the area. The village of Mogan is a few miles inland in Las Palmas. You can reach there by taking a bus from Yumbo or any another bus stop close to your hotel.

The bus service is good and well connected. There was a large selection of restaurants and bars with a waterfront view. Palmitos Park is another must-see.

Palmitos is a park that specializes in topical birds from around the world, though it also boasts other excellent facilities including aquarium, orchid house, butterfly house and an alligator pit! A subtropical oasis, set at the foot of the mountains, not far from Maspalomas. A great retreat indeed !
