Romulus, My Father (2007) Director: Richard Roxburgh Featuring: Eric Bana and Franka Potente.

This is a great human story based on the memoir of Raimond Gaita.

His father Romulus is a farmer from a Romanian origin and his mother Christina is German.

Raimond is a happy child brought up in poverty and

his parents’ inability to give him the so longed for home experience.

His mother is estranged to the family and goes away to have a child with another man (his father’s best friend’s brother) but is unable to find happiness or a reason for living.

His father is a simple men who tries ...

      • to give Raimond everything, but poverty and his inability to have the family he so desperately wants, and most of all to regain Christina’s love, leave him powerless and at times lost.

And Raimond is caught right in the middle.

This was a very powerful story.

It must have been quite a challenge

for the actors, but they have done a really great job.

At the same time, it was really difficult to watch.

Romulus, My Father, is absolutely the slowest movie I have ever watched.

It is filled with boredom, misery and pain.

If you are slightly depressed, make sure to stay away from it: it might make you suicidal.
