House of 1000 Corpses (2003) is a horror film by director Rob Zombie and is rated R by the MPAA for strong sadistic violence/gore, sexuality and language.

House of 1000 corpses follows a group of young people who are traveling across the country visiting off-beat road-side attractions to write a guide for. When in the small city of Ruggsville, they stop at Captain Spauldings Museum of Monsters and Madmen,

where they find a murder ride that shows a bunch of famous killers from the past. It’s here that they learn of Doctor Satan, a local legend who apparently was hung from a tree nearby the museum. After getting directions there, they have car trouble and get stuck on the side of the road, when a pretty blonde comes across them and offers her families help.

      • They accept and head to their house while her brother tows their car there. Once they arrive, they quickly realize that this family is a sadistic group of murders that love to maim and torture their victims.

House of 1000 Corpses is easily one of the most disturbing films of the last decade. I think Rob Zombie did very well capturing the grainy and sickening feel to the

old grindhouse movies that he loved as a kid. The actors all over-act the entire time which is exactly what this type of movie needs. The film is also very gory at times but isn’t nearly as bad as some of the stuff htat comes out nowadays.

I loved House of 1000 Corpses because it’s my kind of movie, but you’re average moviegoer probably won’t like it at all.
